When the sun comes out to play

I feel like I haven't done a good enough job of bragging about how amazing the weather here has been this spring. I suspect that this is partially because I haven't wanted to jinx it.

BUT! The weather! Oh jeeze! It's been sunny and warm and almost like a normal place. Yesterday it was above 90, and I got to ride my bike around in the hot sun and then buy fancy bike parts for my fancy bike:

Those are Dura Ace 7700 brakes, along with both front and rear derailleurs. It's a high-end groupset that debuted in 1997. I bought them to put on the super shiny 1994 Eddy Merckx Strada OS that Trish got me for my birthday because she is seriously the most amazing person to ever live.

I am constantly amazed by how shitty people are. I guess, though, that's why I wanted to learn how to do my own bike wrenching: I was tired of being condescended to by bike shop assholes.

If, theoretically, one's crankset had more than one chainring on it, a front derailleur would allow you to switch between them. This is, of course, barring catastrophic mechanical failure which can never be completely ruled out.
